6 Things to See in Washington State

6 Things to See in Washington State

The northwestern most tip of the United States is a beautiful place to visit. Covered in mountains and evergreen trees that reach into the mile high skies, this state has no shortage of fresh air and open space to explore. Outside of the great big wide open spaces there are plenty of population dense areas that are equally fun to explore. Here are six places worth putting on your must-see list.

 6. Original Starbucks Shop
Located in the Pike Place Market area, this shop is a must see for any coffee fan.

5, Pike Place Market
Famed Pike Place Market is located near the downtown Seattle waterfront. This open air market is a great place to people watch and also do some shopping. You will find remarkable prices on flowers and produce and you may even get to catch a flying fish at the fresh catch stand.

4. Mt Rainier
Climb the foothills of the most Grande peak in the Cascade Mountain Range. Located 80 miles from Seattle, you’ll find waterfalls and beautiful camping opportunities here.

3. Lighthouses
Check out the rocky beaches along Robinson Park. Located in between Seattle and Tacoma this beach is on Puget sound, so you won’t have to deal with tides to enjoy the water. The historic lighthouse provides a beautiful photo op backdrop.

2. Hole in The Wall at Rialto Beach
Located on the Olympic Peninsula, a visit to the hole in the wall includes a 3 mile round trip hike from the beach parking lot to this natural wonder. The hole in the wall is literally a piece of stone with a massive hole carved into the middle. The hike to the wall is spotted with massive pieces of driftwood along a pebble beach with rocks of every color imaginable. Plan to make the hike at low tide if you want to step through the hole though, as you can become stranded if you attempt this during high tide.

1. Olympic National Park
A national Forrest situated on the northern coasts of the states, this National Park is grand in size and covers three separate Eco Systems. From the coastal tide pools to the Hoh Rain Forrest and the dense forests to the mountain peaks and valleys you will find waterfalls, ice caps and sea life galore here. Overnight camping is allowed, but be aware of the bears! Plan a stop at the Dul Suc natural Hot Springs as well.

Whether you are vacationing from Europe or Illinois, there is much to see and much to enjoy during your stay in Washington.
